My graduation project started with a question: How do I make digital art emotionally and socially accessible? Inspired by the principle of an NFT, I started developing the concept; The Digital Art Booth for the underground club scene in Europe. I want to make connections between people from different disciplines and to bring a variety of opinions together.

Not only do I focus on the group that experiences this booth, but also the places where the booth is located. I focus on the underground club scene and techno music. These places are the center for a sensory abduction. This is the place where feelings, people and digitization collide. A combination of the digital and physical world.

The Digital Art Booth records the experience throughout the evening. it measures temperature, light, sound and your movement and converts them into an abstract digital artwork by camera, microfone and temperature meter. It is programmed in a format. The format is influenced by the senses and your movement and does its job. On the buttons you can switch to other booths and share the artworks with each other for a few seconds. This way you not only feel a connection with other partygoers, but also with other clubs.
The outside is designed in a old telephone booth because privacy is taken seriously on these parties and being busy with your phone is not obvious. It is also a nod to communicating with other booths, the combination of the technology from the 80s/90s and the new developments in the future.

With open source art, the artwork lives on. The Digital Art Booth provides a programmed format to the artwork but leaves freedom to the imagination regarding the space, one’s experience and the snapshot. You can actually compare it with an abstract recap movie of the evening shot by one’s full experience.

The Booth is much more than a photo booth with a new look, it makes digital art accessible, interactive and captures your unique memory. It programs movement, space, light, sound and temperature into an interactive digital artwork. One can capture the images and print them out or save them as a collector's item in an NFT collection. Connect the Open Source Mentality's to other booths and thus connect not only with art but also with the experiences of other clubs in Europe. This creates a mini online show tour of digital art.

NFTs are mainly about making money.I caught myself tempted by the business aspect of an NFT. But that's not what the Digital Art Booth is about at all. I have reflected the principle in the concept, but not the aspect of becoming rich in a short amount of time. It's not about making money but about the experience, making the connection both online and physically and shaping your unique experiences in art.

Artist statement

I am a student at the HKU, where i am currently graduating from the Associate Degree '' Connected Design''
I tackle design issues and primarily act as a link between creatives, clients and the end-users. I strive to challenge the "status-quo", while making sure my socially involved projects display a graphic and professional atmosphere; the correct balance is always centre in my approach.
My strength lies in combining commercial
and autonomous projects.I creat a visual or spatial design where I highlight forgotten target groups.

My opportunities lie with my stubbornness and my daring for risk. I follow my gut feeling and believe in my vision and style. I often encounter uncertain times in my processes, but more and more I find that these are where the most powerful projects come from.

Ambitions

After my fashion education and the Accosiate Degree, I was in doubt for a long time whether I wanted to do the bachelor's for another 2 years. I have learned so much in the past 2 years, not only about who I am as a maker but also who I am as a person and what I stand for. That's why I decided to do Product Design for the next 2 years. I am curious how I will develop my conceptual skills and what another 2 years of experimentation and research at the HKU will bring me. Next to school I started a company where I take on freelance jobs as a Graphic designer and Visual designer. In 5 years I hope to have successfully completed Product design and maybe emigrate and do share and make my work from many places.

Learned during the studies

I have learned so much in the past 2 years, not only about who I am as a maker but also who I am as a person and what I stand for. I have developed a self-confidence, I have learned to network and gained an insight into the industry by collaborating with clients and partners.

DIGITAL ART/NFT'S

My graduation project started with the question: How do I make digital art accessible, emotionally and socially? What exactly is Digital Art and what do NFTs do to trade or protect Digital Art?
