Artist statement
Victor Dissel is an audiovisual artist and composer and is mostly known for his installative and performative works. Victor is fascinated by the sensory and three-dimensional experiences that connect him to his environment. He uses sound, space and light to create immersive environments which are built to provoke, challenge and stagger the viewer. These manipulative experiences appeal to our primal senses, bring us closer to them and, on the other hand, make us question their reality. When is something considered to be real? Is everything that exists perceptible? Is everything perceptible existing?
Ambitions
In five years time I want to work on a large range of projects experimenting in many different fields of arts: Architecture, Music, Fine Arts, Digital Arts, Scenography, Theater, Cinema, Dance, Design and Fashion. I want to continue to develop as an audiovisual artist by broadening my spectrum to include all sensory experiences that are possible to experience such as; smell, skin reflex, wind, vibration, etc.
Learned during the studies
HKU Music and Technology introduced me to the many facets of sound, the science behind it, the possibilities of installative and performative experiences and the use of technology for art in general. The study has also guided me in the right direction.

Victor Dissel has studied Music & Technology at the HKU, where he concentrates in the fields of Sonic Design, Spatial Audio and Composition. During his internship he worked on multiple projects alongside multimedia wizard Boris Acket, which resulted in an on-going collaboration with Boris and art collective ATM Atmosphere. In his practice, Victor always strives for multidisciplinarity and collaboration. It’s about combining the intellectual creativity of individuals with different ways of thinking and feeling to reach innovative solutions. The past few years Victor’s works have been on display at multiple art exhibitions, which led him to organizing his own exhibition called We Are Water, premiering June 2022.
